LOL. Yer, i think iPhones just won on every level. I love my iPhone, worth every penny.
What kind of apps does the BlackBerry have? I didn't even know they had apps.
I see BlackBerry phones for business people, and this whole BB pin rubbish is just like msn, but you have to have a BlackBerry to use it? Hmm.

No.
Jess. wrote:What kind of apps does the BlackBerry have? I didn't even know they had apps.
Pretty much the same apps as iPhone except less gimmicky ones. They've had them for years, BBOS has been around for donkeys.
Jess. wrote:I see BlackBerry phones for business people
They were for business people, but so were all smartphones, they're being targeted at normal users aswell now. Considering the Blackberry technically does exactly the same job as the iPhone, you could say they are both for business people.

Not really anything new there, an exclusive for an exclusive handset. That's the same as Orange Wednesdays but only for Orange phones, which is fine. Not everybody wants to use MSN, some people use Skype, AIM, IRC, and BlackBerry in this case.

That's opinion. You can't denounce someone's opinion as bullshit. Everybody has a right to them.

Having just gone through RIM's app store, there are gimmicky apps there, but not having a touchscreen (apart from the Storm), there's less opportunity for gimmicks. However, length of existence is not proportional to the number apps.

Can't fault these two.

Oh dear...you can always rely on the same fannys to vigorously defend/denounce the same things
I love my iPhone, It's probably one of the best purchases I ever made. I bet I'm wrong eh? I bet I'm a fool for using a MacBook too (after all, you can get exactly the same thing much cheaper if you buy all the bits online separately) Perhaps all that doesn't matter to me, and I'm chuffed with the gizmos I use. I love the OS's which you can't get anywhere else. I hope I get a massive long-winded breakdown of why exactly I can't have this opinion.
Blackberrys aren't terrible, they're not my cup of tea though. I think they look and feel a bit cheap. They're far too plastic-y. The little trackpad annoys me too, my thumb covers the entire thing. Displays a bit dull/small to as well, I like watching videos and flicking through photos on my phone. BB messenger is cool though, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple launched it's own sorta chat thing in OS4. Maybe using your iChat handle or something.

I don't understand why they can't both be good? Everyone I know that has an iphone is always really snarky about blackberrys, & I don't see the point? You have an iphone & you like it, fantastic & good for you, but step off my blackberry! ah whatever, i love my bb & think they're just as good as iphones

I think they're both good. I prefer iPhone though. I hate when folk are like "well your opinion is wrong" and get their knickers in a twist spouting out how anything by Apple is for silly cunts, it's all overpriced etc. which happens all the time around this place ha.

Re: Blackberry
it's a phone, why would i be using it to watch videos >.>
the only reason i am using aps, is because aps are available for use.
The things came with a faceboook ap, and a myspace ap, so I use those.
I got an MSN and AIM ap for my chatting.
A Paypal one to check my Paypal.
I downloaded the eBay ap, but after finding out I can't manage my business on it, I deleted it.
And a twitter ap, since I never check that on the cpu anyway.

Re: Blackberry
I'll be getting a BB soon rather than an iPhone only due to the fact that at the moment (in my opinion) the monthly tarrifs for them are far too expensive for what the iPhone can do as well as the fact I already have an iPod touch.
Apple products are awesome products and they're slick which I think is awesome. Clearly a lot of thought goes into them and the Apple OS is a lot nicer imo compared to other OS's but I honestly believe that Apple are charging far too much for their products for what they're worth.
I just don't understand why people would pay so much for an Apple product that is a good piece of kit but overinflated price wise against similar, cheaper and even equivalent products. Sure if you have the money to do so then it's completely justified but I think the fact that so many people say Macs/iPhones etc are better than everything else (which they may of course be) has kinda alienated those people that don't have the money for an exclusive product like MacBooks into the mindset that if you have an Apple product you're better off when really, you may have a sexy piece of kit but your wallet is worse off when it doesn't need to be, purely for aesthetic pleasure.
I personally would always pick an Apple over anything else if the price were lower and more support for applications was available; a lot of programs I use aren't compatible with Macs. Rumours are that Apple will release new updated versions across their Mac range in April, I hope they drop pricing by a few £££'s. Even the standard MacBook starts at £816 :/

I have some long-ass cross London journeys, easily 2hours+ long. I can throw the latest episodes of South Park/Scrubs/Cleveland show on. Sometimes on Twitter etc. there's a link to a video I'll want to watch. I wasn't suggesting anyone use a phone primarily to watch videos, but it's a feature I use a lot so I don't like the small(er) screen. Again, it's an opinion bro. Wasn't saying Blackberry is shit 'cause the screen is small; It's just not for me. You might not wanna watch videos on a phone, but I quite like to.

Re: Blackberry
When making the decision to either get a Blackberry or an IPhone my biggest concern was since the iPhone is touch screen, I didn't want to spill alcohol over it when I was drunk and damage the touch of it.
I love my Blackberry anyway, I can see why iPhones are appealing to people, just alot of people seem to have problems with them (which is probably down to downloading too many apps).
Anyway, to give 1 application for Blackberry a recommend I'd definately say download "Poynt", you type in a restaurant/shop/business and it detects where you are and then locates the nearest one to you.

Screen protectors. Amazing things.
iPhones are cool but I heard the 3G is kinda useless at times, speed issues and all that. Blackberrys are pretty sexy tbh.
Re: Blackberry
Like Malky said it is opinion. I'm not saying iPhones are shit, if they were they wouldn't be selling as well as they are. Just there are alot of faults with them (like any phone) that people don't realise. The iPhone doesn't exactly win on "all levels". The battery life is horrific for a smartphone and there are phones with better screens, camera's, operating systems and definately better prices. I'd say more people have bought an iPhone and have no idea about any other high-end smartphones than people who have a look at a couple of competing phones aswell.
Re: Blackberry
2hour trips = Nintendo DS or Sony PSP
anywho, I know they're making that ES ap for the Blackberry, that'd be nice to have
it'd be nice to have an ap that informs me whenever a band i like goes on tour near here

Re: Blackberry
Not a fan of Blalckberry due to how small the keypad is. I tried to use a friends one and kept missing typing words, I much prefer the touch screen keyboard of the iPhone
Re: Blackberry
When I was vice-chair of a Police Authority I had a BlackBerry and found it very useful. I'm thinking of getting one this week as they've advanced greatly since 1998 when I retired as a councillor.

Had mine about a week and a bit now. No problems so far, finding it really good. All pretty simple to use and I find the keypad much easier than a normal phone when it comes to typing anything. Touch screens are definitely not for me.
Re: Blackberry
Always been good phones. Bare cheap too. I've got an older curve (one with the ball scroller rather than the touch one) for £15 a month with unlimited texts, internet and 200 minutes. Major bargain!
Re: Blackberry
You're not cool unless you have an iPhone, with a Polaroid app. NEW AGE FUN with a VINTAGE FEEL.
