It's probably me who only gives away tickets randomly. I've bought a friend and his girlfriend tickets for Leeds Festival, if he decides he wants to go again this year.

I think with the instance of "giving them away", provided the purchaser is present and you both go in together, that is goingto be fine.
This will probably only be a scheme used at festivals, rather than gigs to be honest.
