They're talking pish. The fact that there is now a sixth series that's JUST BEEN CONFIRMED means that not all of the episodes have even been planned and filmed, so they're talking SHIIITTTEEEE.

Although, a new season doesn't necessarily mean the mother's not been confirmed by the producers. I'm assuming they've had an idea of how it would end from the beginning, everything else is essentially filler in terms of the storyline.
