Is that the one with the woodgrain finish? If so, that's a sexy machine.

Re: Retro Console thread
My first everthing that could play games ('cause I wouldnt think too much of it as a "console") was an Amstrad CPC 464 with a big fat CRT monitor and a keyboard with a built in cassette deck, in which you would need to load a tape and wait for about 20 minutes whilst it loaded up a game in lovely shades of green green and more green
A few years later I was allowed to join the real world and was bought a Sega mega drive for christmas...and then the grandparents bought me an original NES from a car boot sale when I was 8
Next came Playstation. Does anyone remember the Sage Saturn?? I wanted one of those so bad but fortunately never got one
Then I switched over to Xbox from the first model onwards

Re: Retro Console thread
I've had...
Comodore International
Comodore 64
Nintendo
NES
SNES
Gameboy
Gameboy Colour
N64 (and the limited edition Pokémon one too)
Gamecube
DS (original)
DS Lite
Wii
Sega
Megadrive
Gamegear
Pico (who even remembers this?)
Dreamcast
(REALLY wish I'd gotten a Saturn)
Sony
Playstation
PSOne
Playstation 2 (1x Black, 1x Silver, 1x Slim)
PSP
PSP Slim
PS3
Microsoft
Xbox
Xbox 360 (all 3 of them died, such a shite console)
Most of them have been sold or are packed away now. Nintendo have the best hardware by far in my opinion (in terms of reliability/build, my NES still works perfectly!)

Re: Retro Console thread
I was kind of deprived of video games...
I had an N64... That I had to keep at my grandma's house... Then I got a fat PS2. It died. And since then, I've had like 4 slim PS2s... And that's it >.<
Well, I have a GBA too...

Sega Megadrive
Dreamcast
PS1 x 3 (broke the fat one, got 2 slims)
PS2 x 5 (few fat ones broke, ended up with a silver and black slim)
PS3 x 2
Xbox 360 (just got RROD, what a heap of shit)
Wii
Best thing I ever played was MoH:AA on the PC for years, amazing game. Pc is the best game playing technology, can't call it a console lol.

Platform's probably the best word
Re: Retro Console thread
I've been through 3 Xbox 360's but can never give up on it, it's a SICK console + they say they've finally fixed the RROD now with the new slim console
I had a few consoles, I remember when I got my PS1 for my birthday years ago, it was exactly like the Nintendo 64 christmas video;
'OMmmG A PlAyStaionzzzz!!!!!£Y%: :@ £*%_Q

Pas vrai. The failure rate in the new consoles is still higher than that of the PS3 and Wii. If you were being really clever with your words though, you're spot on; RROD doesn't occur in the newer consoles because they've removed the Red-Ring light mechanism. Instead you get an ominous 'red-eye', where the little power sign glows red. Probably a clever marketing trick on MS's part, they can claim 'RROD' has been stopped...when in fact they're still using the same shit solder, albeit on a *slightly* better chip. The GPU is the newer 65nm 'un but it makes no odds, the bracket on the board is still a massive x-shaped one and when that badboy heats up (it's still under the disktray so that's almost inevitable...trust me, these things MUST be built by monkeys. Then again, I'm sure most American products are built by monkeys bar Apple's
I'm not one for conspiracies, but I'm pretty sure MS make these consoles duff on purpose. It's been 5 years now and they still haven't eradicated the problem entirely. If kids on a forum can point out the problems I'm sure MS has known how to solve them for donkeys years. When your console finally shafts it and you can no longer rely on them for a shitty refurbished replacement, you'll need another one or your entire library of games is worthless. Ker'ching for MS.
I've had 3 Xboxes break on me and I treat my hardware very well. Windows is a buggy, horrible mess and it looks like someone smeared their fat smelly bum down my screen whenever I use it. MS can suck my hairy ballbag, I don't trust any of their handicapped products.
Btw I don't like Microsoft very much (however I have the utmost respect for Bill Gates and XP was a solid OS. Old paint was fun too)
