Retro Console thread
Discuss em all from the NES, to the SNES, Megadrive/Genesis, Gameboy, Game Gear, PS1 and 2, XBox etc.
WHat ones have you had?
What did you wish you had?
I have had a NES, Gameboy, Amiga, PS1,2 and 3.
I cant decide my favourite, I love them all, except, TBH, my PS3.

Re: Retro Console thread
I've got an original Gameboy, 3 Gameboy Colors, a SNES, MegaDrive, 2 PSones, 2 fat PS2s, 2 slim PS2s.Most of them are broke. My family has that effect on gadgets.

Re: Retro Console thread
I got a MegaDrive when I was about 8 and at the time it was like the coolest thing ever. I got a PSone a couple of years after that but I don't think it was ever as good!
Re: Retro Console thread
Had NES, 2 x SNES, Dreamcast, N64, PS1, 2 x PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360
Orig Gameboy, Gameboy Colo(u)r, Gameboy advance, Gameboy advance sp, Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite.

I had a PS, PS2, 360, and a PSP. PS2s were just beyond amazing to me. But, currently I'm enjoying the 360. I thought I never would switch to xbox haha.

Hence why you were buillied when you were younger.
Re: Retro Console thread
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the best game ever in my humble opinion. That game alone made N64 the best console ever in my books, let alone when I consider Goldeneye, Mario Kart 64, Perfect Dark, Donkey Kong 64...it goes on.
Also, it had this...

Re: Retro Console thread
I had a Commodore 64. That shit was rad. All our games came on cassette tapes and took about half an hour to load.
Then I moved on to the Sega Master System. Coolest looking console of all time:

I know what you're all thinking: "Shit the bed, I wish I was old enough to have appreciated that thing when it was de jour." It really was the nuts. Gain Ground, Moonwalker and Lemmings made me get so many 'tummy aches' when I was 6 and needed to stay at home and play.
Bought myself an N64 when my granny died and left me a wad of cash. Still never seen anything on a computer/console that made my jaw drop as much as Mario 64 did when I first got it. Easily my favourite game of all time. Goldeneye multi-player is still the most fun 4 people can have at the same time with their clothes on. I've never played it naked but I'll bet its pretty good then, too.
Got a PSone to keep me occupied during GCSE study leave. I played Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX and Tony Hawk's 2 until my thumbs didn't work anymore, didn't do a single minute's revision and still got 6 A's. Scientific evidence if ever there was any needed, that computer games do not stunt a child's development or hinder their learning.
That was the last time I bought a games console and I sort of miss it. I think one day when I live with a girlfriend who I don't want to have to talk to all the time, I'll invest in some new kit and play Mario games again.

Is that the one with the woodgrain finish? If so, that's a sexy machine.

Re: Retro Console thread
My first everthing that could play games ('cause I wouldnt think too much of it as a "console") was an Amstrad CPC 464 with a big fat CRT monitor and a keyboard with a built in cassette deck, in which you would need to load a tape and wait for about 20 minutes whilst it loaded up a game in lovely shades of green green and more green
A few years later I was allowed to join the real world and was bought a Sega mega drive for christmas...and then the grandparents bought me an original NES from a car boot sale when I was 8
Next came Playstation. Does anyone remember the Sage Saturn?? I wanted one of those so bad but fortunately never got one
Then I switched over to Xbox from the first model onwards

Re: Retro Console thread
I've had...
Comodore International
Comodore 64
Nintendo
NES
SNES
Gameboy
Gameboy Colour
N64 (and the limited edition Pokémon one too)
Gamecube
DS (original)
DS Lite
Wii
Sega
Megadrive
Gamegear
Pico (who even remembers this?)
Dreamcast
(REALLY wish I'd gotten a Saturn)
Sony
Playstation
PSOne
Playstation 2 (1x Black, 1x Silver, 1x Slim)
PSP
PSP Slim
PS3
Microsoft
Xbox
Xbox 360 (all 3 of them died, such a shite console)
Most of them have been sold or are packed away now. Nintendo have the best hardware by far in my opinion (in terms of reliability/build, my NES still works perfectly!)
