Download 2010- Some early info (nae bands though)
I know, you want to know what, where, when, who, why and how much!
Unfortunately, its not that easy as I will try and explain, but no doubt whilst most of you will believe me and accept that I am telling you as much as I can, some will start shouting their mouths off jumping to all sorts of conclusions and making daft claims about what they think they know! So, in now particular order and I should add, subject to change ………
What – Download Festival 2010
Where – Donington Park, the true home of all things rock! There have been all sorts of stories in the national and local press about the future of Donington and wild speculation as to their ability to raise the money and complete the works in time to stage next years Formula 1 Grand Prix. We will know by this time next week if they have managed to do so, but either way, there is no reason why Download should not go ahead. I hope they do manage to pull it off as the people involved have put so much time and effort in to the development plans, it would be a shame if it was all for nothing. I believe that Download would benefit from the development and there has been a desire on behalf of the circuit owners to work with us, so good luck to them! As for any changes on our side, the arena, campsite and car parks will more or less be in the same places with a number of small changes to make things work better. Taxi’s and drop off/pick up will move to a better location, campers and caravans move to a bigger field and VIP& Press move to a new home, but will still have access from their campsite in to the VIP area. As for RIP, we are working on a couple of new ideas but as always, it will be in the same place with even less distance to walk to the VIP area!! The main arena worked well but we are going to make it slightly bigger and move stage 4 to reduce the noise bleed from the main stage. Bars and concessions will be changed slightly to fit the revised layout and we hope to introduce some new market areas and ideas so keep your suggestions coming please. Oh, and better toilets and a lot more drinking water points!!
When – On our normal second weekend in June so campsite opens at noon on Wednesday 9th June and closes at noon on Monday 14th June with the arena open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Who – Not a clue to be honest as this time of year all the bands are talking to all the agents, who in turn talk to all the promoters of all the festivals across Europe, before they decide where they are going to play. Yes, some festivals have announced bands in Europe because that’s the way it works over there, but on a rock festival in the UK, that’s not the way it works. Who are we taking to? Every single band that you have all mentioned on the rumours and wish lists, plus a few more. When will we announce, to be honest I haven’t made my mind up yet and its as simply because as a team, we have been so busy that we haven’t had time to sit down and look at ticket prices and times etc but this meeting is in the diary for November and I will let you know what we are doing then.
Why is it like this – because there are certain things we need to get sorted in a certain order to ensure that we create the best rock festival possible! We did it the way I wanted to last year and look what happened, we sold out for the first time ever and it was hailed the most successful rock festival ever. We have won awards and are still being put up for awards and I intend to do everything in my power to ensure we are in the same position this time next year, and the year after and every year I am running this gig.
So, to all the doubters and hecklers amongst you, let it be known that the more you bitch and moan, the more it makes me determined to prove you wrong and to those of you that come on here and try to spread propaganda about other festivals, dream on kids, we are not that gullible!!

Re: Download 2010
I missed Shikari.
LB are my fave alltime band (I know musically they arent the greatest but the whole package is just awesome), and I hadnt seen their "final show" in 2004, so I look at every LB show as my last one, whereas I see ES pretty much every other month.
I doubt though, that LB will play. The December album release looks unlikely so Id imagine that April/May will be the US tour, followed by Australasia, SOuth America then a fall/winter UK tour.

Re: Download 2010
Haha yeah man. I was pretty cooked when I met you as well.
If you get a chance to see LB, dont let other bands spoil it for you haha. The annoying thing was, of the 100 bands to clash with LB, if I could choose ONE not to, it would be Shikari, and guess what....
Even Rory was annoyed with their set time haha.

2nd headliner under A I think.
Re: Download 2010
When A play at DOwnload, you arent allowed to cheapen the status by calling ANYONE "2nd headline". Even the other bands playing last on mainstage must be referred to as "A's Warmup acts"
Re: Download 2010
It's official! Download will return to Donington Park in 2010!
On 17.11.2009
As many of you would agree, this year’s Download Festival was the most kick-arse ever - with three days of scorching sunshine at Donington Park, and a bevy of awesome performances from over 100 bands. We completely sold out and were even lucky enough to pick up an award at this month’s Marshall Classic Rock Roll Of Honour, for “Event Of The Year” as well as receiving “Event of The Year” for the Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods awards earlier this year.
Now we’d like to announce a very special ‘Early Bird’ offer to everyone who supported Download 2009 – a chance to purchase tickets for next year’s festival at 2009 prices!
Going on sale at 9.00am on Thursday 19 November on the official Download website www.downloadfestival.co.uk, standard weekend arena tickets for the 2010 Download Festival will be available at £135. Standard and family camping tickets will stay at £25 for Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, however if you do wish to arrive early on the Wednesday or Thursday there will be an additional charge of £10. Full details will be available on purchase and these prices will only be available until midnight on Christmas Eve. (...perhaps THE most wicked Christmas present you could ever get someone!)
Download 2010 will be taking place on 11, 12 and 13 June, and next year’s event will be something special as 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of Donington Park’s heritage with rock. From the infamous and legendary “Monsters of Rock” festival, which began in 1980; to more recently the epic Download Festival – the site has played host to some of the world’s greatest rock performances of all time. Many bands still to this day consider playing at Donington Park as their ‘defining career moment’, and next summer you’re all invited to help us celebrate in style.
Anticipation is building, rumours are rife, “who will be performing at next year’s Download?” …….As usual, the beast will be unleashed in the New Year, and more badass than ever!
Don’t miss your chance to be part of history!
‘The best festival weekend ever’ – Kerrang! Magazine
‘A glorious weekend’ – Metal Hammer
‘The best weekend for getting rocked…a rite of passage for any self respecting rocker’ – NME
‘The Glyndbourne for loud guitars’ – The Times
‘For those who like their festivals with a harder edge, Download is the only one worth considering…hard rock heaven’ – The Sun
