Green Day
I just finished listening to 21st Century Breakdown and since I saw a lot of people comparing it to American Idiot, so will I. I've had American Idiot for about four and a half years so I've had time to appreciate it more, but recalling how I felt after hearing it for the first time (back in January 2005), I must say I like 21st Century Breakdown more. Although there is a lack of 9 minute epic tracks, the songs make up for it. And it's nice to hear them attack more than just Bush (this time they go after religion, oh boy!) Anywho, Green Day has become one of my favourites over the past.......well damn, probably 9 years. Huh, that makes them the band I've liked continuously for the longest period of time.
See, I listen to bands other than Modest Mouse.

Re: Green Day
new album is a ridiculously long listen and requires a lot of patience to get used to.

Re: Green Day
^^ yeah 69 minutes total. I had to listen to the three acts seperately because I couldn't sit still for that long haha.

A lot of people seem to be saying that but for me, I like the new stuff. It's more "mature" and I like that, although my favorite song by them is Macy's Day Parade.

Exactly the same. Can't beat the stuff on Kerplunk!. Dookie was pretty good too.
New album sounds too similar to American Idiot.
Re: Green Day
I really like it now after a few listens.
Some of it really reminds me of Nimrod, and I don't think it sounds like American Idiot at all! East Jesus Nowhere did make me think of Holiday the first time I heard it though.

Now having listened to it properly too, it's actually pretty good.
One of the song's remind me of Hitchin a Ride and one really reminded me of Christie Road.
Not sure which ones though.

Re: Green Day
I think I like 21st Century Breakdown more. I wish it had 9 minute epics, but its still really good.
Re: Green Day
The 9 minutes epics made AI what it is really. i can only imagine how hard it must of been playing Jesus Of Suberbia live. It must of killed
