Musically Diverse
I'm gonna give some background info first on how i became a fan of Shikari so feel free to skip to the next paragraph. I first heard Shikari when they released TTtS. I ABSOLUTELY HATED THEM. They were against everything I liked musically. I hated bands that screamed and i detested electronic music. I only really stuck to rock and it's sub genres. Maybe a bit of rap here and there but i stuck to rock/rap. I was incredibly musically blind back then
A year later I got into Hadouken!, The Prodigy and Pendulum. I only liked a few songs but it was enough to get me into this side of music. That was one half of the equation done.
Soon I decided to explore different avenues of metal. It took time but eventually my ear became accustomed to heavier music and screaming vocals. So now I had to put the two pieces of music together.
One of my mates, who is a Shikari fan, decided to begin the brain washing process. The first song i liked was surprisingly the Insomnia cover at the Brixton Academy. Next came Labyrinth, The Jester and SYNAW. Eventually I liked about 10 songs so I decided to just get their full discography and within no time I had become a fan.
Now to cut the waffling and get to the point. Since I've become a fan of Shikari I've noticed that I have started listening to 'nearly' every genre of music. In a way I'm proud of how diverse I have become but i obviously don't listen to everything, yet. I still dislike chart music but the charts occasionally spit out a good artist or two.
I'd like to see what your opinion is...! Also, feel free to test my boundaries and even introduce me to a different genre. some sub-genres would be good too
(YouTube Links would be grand) If you'd like you could share how you got into Shikari if it was as long winded as me xD
