Halo: Reach

Seeing as this will probably be the biggest video game of the year, it should be discussed.

Anyone else excited for Bungie's last Halo game or were you never a fan and didn't see the hype?

(But honestly, how can you not be excited for Forge World?)

I loved the first Halo. The second had an awesome multi-player but the campaign wasn't nearly as good. By the time Halo 3 came around it just felt a bit rusty and aged. I've never fully understood the hype, it seems like a really solid shooter to me but nothing excellent like Half-Life, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Deus Ex etc.

That said Reach does look awesome. If I had an Xbox it'd be a definite day-one purchase.

Major kudos! Halo 3 had a terrible campaign but multiplayer was pretty amazing tbh, introduction of matchmaking and all these little extras has really changed multiplayer to date.

Don't know much info on this game, haven't really been up to date with my future release info but I will definately consider this beast. The new Deus Ex looks bloody amazing as well, this year should be good for games.

Ok forge world is my video game wet dream.

I've always been a Halo fanboy so I'm really excited for Reach. I remember talking to my friends about a lot of stuff they are now including in forge (a really large map, angle snaps, things not falling, etc.) so FW just adds to my excitement.

Obviously this is just speculation, but I would put my money on this or Mass Effect 2 to win the majority of game of the year awards from various sources (or possibly Read Dead Redemption but I would say that's the underdog.)

I know how you feel, but if you don't have an Xbox 360 at the moment I think it's kind of hard to judge. At just having a quick go now and then I didn't really care for it, but last month I really gave it a chance and now it's pretty much all I'm playing. I think it's harder to get into than some, it's not what I'd call an easy-shooter, but I prefer it over call of duty any day.

Red Dead did sell a lot but it's not really that amazing, it just got good hype. I think the problem with your award theory is that CoD: Black Ops is coming out around the same time, so it's gonna be a serious show of who has the most fans.

Black ops is coming out around the same time and will definitely sell well, but I just don't see it to be a big contender of awards. That's probably just unfair prejudices I have, and obviously I haven't played the game so I can't have any evidence, but I just don't think it will be that great. I'll probably be proven wrong once it comes out, but based off Treyarch's past games, I think it will be good, but not that great.

Just put my pre order in! Can't wait for this looks like my perfect game tbh, halo dosent seem as big anymore though well less hype ?

I'm incredibly excited for this. The hype seems pretty big over here, although it is less than what I would have expected to be honest.
