Re: Reasons to be annoyed atm

Post by JoshXCI on Mon 08 Feb 2010, 6:57 pm

Im jumping on this wagon here, last night I sat and thought why was I going to college, my cadetship next year requires no A-levels just an insight into the industry and sailing qualifications. I went to college originally because I thought I wanted to go to uni. Started my 2nd year because I'd already done a first year and thought it was a waste to drop out after already passing my first, what I hate is that my college repeated from April to September/October rammed going to Uni as the only option after leaving ,and once I'd stated I wasn't going they couldn't care less about me. As well as this in IT my tutor didnt even help me when it came to programming and I was waaay over my head, so I fell behind by about two weeks.

I was forced to take an AS when I only wanted to do three a levels (..well I had the option of an AS or General Studies) really wish I'd gone and got a full time job for 2 years rather than waste the stress that comes with it all and to only get pretty pathetic grades.

That's good at least. Smile
Ravensbourne is the only place I want to go really, as I could stay at home and just get a bus there, so if I don't get in when I apply next year, I don't even know what I'll do.
What was the interview like?

Yeah I can get there so easily from where I live once the East London line is up and running.
The interview was good, quite relaxed and stuff. They just looked at my stuff and asked me which bits I liked best and why. They were generally really nice and chatty.

Oh jeez. Great.
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who can't be arsed as of now. I need to start being more motivated now.

You go to Colchester Sixth Form don't you man? Who's your IT tutor?
They did the same thing with our year and sort of assumed everyone was going to Uni (although I'm glad I did to be honest). But yea, they did the same thing with me with the 3 A level thing, I ended up taking General Studies and has a 20% attendance haha Razz

I was meant to do General Studies last year 'cause I dropped a subject, and they didn't realise for ages so I joined at the end of January I think. The teacher either told us stories or just let us go. I got a D. Haha, oh well. Pointless.

And you call your teachers by their first names..? That's so weird.

General Studies isn't all that pointless. Most universities are accepting it now, I know all my uni offers at the moment allow it as part of my 3 A Levels so i'm seeing it as a potential easy A.

yeah we call our tutors by first names, what happens when you go to a system college.

I only know of about 6/7 uni's out of the hundreds there are that accept it.

Well i'm taking English Literature at uni hopefully and i've applied like high/mid, my highest being Kent I think which isn't bad at all for English, 18th i think according to The Times with an offer of 340 UCAS points. I've also got offers from Hull, Keele and DMU and they're accepting it which is great Very Happy

I read somewhere, think the Guardian that if not now, most uni's will attempt to accept it as an allowed A-level.

On top of what I said yesterday, we got our grades for our photography coursework back today. Mine is absolutely shit. I was so upset. My grade last year wasn't too amazing so I wanted to bring it up not down. She said my actual photos are good, but I'm not great at the whole developing and experimenting part. Bloody thing, why can't they mark it on the photos themselves? And there's still time to improve it but I'm not sure what more I can do to bring up the marks by so much. Gah.
